It takes first prize and is judged Premium in the soda cracker category. F.L. Sommer & Co. registers the name Premium for their award-winning soda cracker. 1898: Premium becomes part of the National Biscuit Company, later known as Nabisco. 1930: Named changes from Premium soda crackers to Premium crackers. Late 1940's: From her on, the brand is called Premium saltine crackers. 1951: Premium saltine crackers are packaged in patented in-er-seal technology that is moisture resistant and helps retain the crackers' freshness, crispness and flavor remarkably well. 1986: A low sodium version of Premium saltine crackers is introduced in the US. Early 1990's: Premium soup & oyster and fat free Premium crackers are introduced. 2007: Nabisco introduces Premium Minis Original saltine crackers- all the taste of premium saltines in the perfect size for salads and soups. 2008: Nabisco Premium crackers are the leading brand of saltine crackers.
